According to open source information, a $10,000 reward is being offered by the FBI, Boston Police Department and Randolph, Massachusetts police for information leading to a man who disappeared 16 years ago. John Bui Tran was last seen on 04/02/2005, at a party on Mitchell Street in Randolph, MA.
Media reports indicate the FBI is working with police investigating what they call the suspicious disappearance of Tran and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him or his remains.
By way of background and according to open sources of information, Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Further open source information on Tran reveals moving to Boston's Dorchester neighborhood in November 1976 to attend Quincy College on a part-time basis.
Reporting indicates Tran lived on Church Street in Dorchester and was employed at a pet supply store in Quincy. Tran routinely donated blood through the American Red Cross, and was often seen on his bicycle, carrying a dark-colored backpack.
Tran was a naturalized U.S. citizen who majored in liberal arts with the goal of writing screenplays for movies and television, reportedly. There have been no sightings or follow up information concerning Tran since his suspicious disappearance in 2005.
