KINGMAN AZ, 2019 — A third and final trial for a Yucca man accused of fraud and forgery was moved up a week Monday.
Robert Lawson Carnochan, 71, is charged with three counts of fraud, four counts of forgery, three counts of theft of a credit card and three counts of theft of a bad check.
Chief Deputy Mohave County Attorney James Schoppmann said one of the witnesses would not be available for the week of the May 14 trial and asked the judge to either accelerate or delay the trial a week or two.
Superior Court Commissioner Billy Sipe Jr. moved up Carnochan’s trial to now begin May 7 with a pre-trial hearing for April 15.
Carnochan was arrested April 13, 2016, after a traffic stop on Interstate 40. Officers later searched the Yucca house and garage that he shared with his ex-girlfriend and found six weapons and numerous documents including Social Security cards and Arizona and Montana driver’s license with both names.

Carnochan, a Canadian, reportedly has been living illegally in the U.S. for several decades including in Oregon and Nevada.
Carnochan was convicted in his first trial in February 2017 on six counts of misconduct with a weapon for illegally possessing three rifles and three handguns and was sentenced a month later to four and a half years in prison.
In his second trial held in August 2017, Carnochan was convicted on five counts of forgery and two counts of taking the identity of another. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison to be served consecutively to his first sentence.
Carnochan remains a person of interest in the disappearance of three women, Verna F. Clayton, 73, of Dolan Springs, Nancy Rae Hartz, 72, of Kingman, and Neva Jane Lindley, 77, of Las Vegas.
All three women reportedly met Carnochan on online dating sites for seniors. Evidence recovered at the Yucca home included personal items of the three women including their driver’s licenses.
