Missoula Search and Rescue have located the deceased remains of Ben Griffing.
Lake County Sheriff Donald R. Bell says Griffing was reported missing on Feb. 4, and that the last contact with Griffing was in Missoula on Jan. 22.
Griffing’s car was located at the Garnet Ghost Town parking area on April 1 and an initial search of the immediate area was conducted by Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputies in conjunction with a Missoula County Sheriff’s Detective and a BLM Ranger, however, no sign of Griffing was located.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF DISAPPEARANCE
A Missing Endangered Person Advisory has been issued on behalf of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Ben J Griffing, a 62 year old white male, has gone missing from Polson.
Ben Griffing is about 6 feet 6 inches tall, 165lbs has blue eyes with brown and gray hair.
He has a 1999 white Toyota Avalon with Montana personalized license plate "Giraffe".
Mr. Griffing was last seen on January 18th in Polson leaving for a skiing and winter camping trip to the Pioneer Mountains near Dillon.
He also frequently camps and skis the Bitterroot Selway Mountains near Darby.
He was reported missing today and there is concern for his welfare. If you have any information, please contact the Lake County Sheriffs Office at 406 883 7301 extension 1 or dial 911.

Original vehicle descriptions were reported as a 1999 Toyota Avalon and a 1999 Toyota Montana, both are inaccurate. The vehicle registered to Griffing with the plate indicated has been updated below and all reporting agencies are advised to update their records. -END-
