An Adrian man was sentenced Friday to 18 years and 9 months to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to a second-degree murder charge for killing a 30-year-old Adrian woman.

The body of Jessica Marie Fox was found along the River Raisin just outside of Tecumseh in April of 2021. Michigan State Police arrested 33-year-old Christopher George Maurer in June of 2021.

A Michigan man has been arrested and charged with the strangulation death of his friend with autism months after her body was found in a river.

Jessica Marie Fox, 30, vanished in late March at the Indian Crossing Trails in Tecumseh, according to the Michigan State Police. Police described Christopher Maurer, the man who was last with her as a "friend."

The Lenawee County medical examiner performed an autopsy and identified the body as that of Fox. They determined that the cause of death was strangulation and ruled her death a homicide.

Endangered Missing Autistic Woman: information as of March 27, 6:32 p.m.

Video surveillance at the Perky Pantry Gas station on the corner of E. Chicago Blvd and N. Wyandotte Street in the city of Tecumseh shows Jessica Marie Fox inside the store a little after 3 p.m. on March 21, 2021- 30 minutes before she was allegedly at the Indian Crossing Trails Park off of Burt Street in Tecumseh, Michigan.

Video shows Jessica getting into the passenger side of a tan Ford F-150 extended pickup truck and leaving the gas station at approximately 3:15 p.m. on March 21.

This truck belongs to the friend who stated they were at Indian Trails together and he left from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

The friend stated that Jessica was waiting for someone to come pick her up but the friend didn’t know who. That was allegedly to bring her back to her Super8 where she was staying temporarily. She had a routine of calling family every day until her disappearance. There has been no further contact since.

She has ties to Ohio and New York.
