The family of Ryan Larsen, who’s been missing since May 2021, filed a lawsuit against the Papillion La Vista Community Schools district.
Ryan Larsen hadn’t yet celebrated his 12th birthday when police tell us he left La Vista West Elementary School on May 17, 2021.
He has been missing since, despite exhaustive search efforts by local, state and federal law enforcement, as well as community members.
Tammi Larsen has not seen her son, Ryan, since she dropped him off at school in La Vista, Nebraska, on the morning of May 17, 2021.
“That day started out normal. We got up, got ready for school,” Tammi said. “He was actually very excited to get home that evening. We had some plans. Dropped him off at school, went to work.”
A district court judge has dismissed the most recent lawsuit brought forth by the mother of Ryan Larsen.
Tammi Larsen filed a lawsuit in Sarpy County Court against the Papillion-La Vista school district seeking damages in Ryan’s disappearance in May 2021. The latest lawsuit was filed in March, a few months after a similar lawsuit filed was dismissed in federal court.

The missing juvenile, Ryan D Larsen, walked away from his elementary school in La Vista, Nebraska around noon on 5/17/2021.
Ryan was seen near his apartment shortly after he walked away from the school.
There have been no confirmed sightings since this time. Ryan has high functioning autism and has a history of running away and hiding; however, he has always been found shortly afterward near the location where he left.
