The Saunders County Sheriff's Office is a full service law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the public of Saunders County, NE. The Saunders County Sheriff's Office is responsible and tasked with maintaining the peace and enforcing the law within Saunders County. The Saunders County Sheriff's Office patrols and investigates criminal activity in the rural areas of Saunders County along with all towns and villages which do not maintain a municipal police department. Currently the cities of Wahoo and Ashland have and maintain 24/7 police departments. The towns of Yutan, Mead, Ceresco, and Cedar Bluffs maintain part-time police departments. The Saunders County Sheriff's Office strives to maintain a cohesive and collaborative relationship with these departments to better serve the entire public of Saunders County.

The Saunders County Sheriff's Office investigates criminal offenses, traffic accidents, enforces traffic laws, and serves as County Corner in death investigations. Other duties include collecting delinquent taxes, execution of court orders, serving civil process, serving arrest warrants, providing security for the courts and maintaining a 155 bed jail.
