Remains found in Prestonsburg last year have been positively identified as 36-year-old Kandi Gonzalez, who had been missing since June 2021.
Police made her family aware this week.
“It’s pretty heart-stopping because all this time — I held out hope that she was still alive, and now it’s the end,” Kandi’s mother Betty Dixon said as she fought back tears.
The body of a Floyd County woman who has been missing since 2021 was found, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).
On Thursday, KSP said remains were found on April 27, 2022, in Prestonsburg and have now been identified as those of Kandi Green Gonzalez.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF DISAPPEARANCE
Kandi Gonzalez (36) is reported to have last been seen on 06/01/2021. Kentucky State Police (KSP) Pikesville Post 9 was contacted on 06/02/2021 and Gonzalez was reported as missing. KSP reports Kandi Gonzalez as being last seen on Abbott Creek Road in Prestonsburg, KY, and requesting the publics assistance in locating her.
