Details of Disappearance

Jameela Strickland was last seen by family or friends on February 10, 2024.

17-year-old, Jameela Strickland was last seen leaving Dave & Busters Saturday night around 11:15 pm.

“For a 17-year-old to be off off grid, as long as she’s been.” Panama City Beach Police Sergeant Kevin Burns said. “Since Saturday without any cell phone communications that we know of, it’s very odd that she hasn’t spoken on social media, hasn’t called a family member, or has any type of funding to to buy food and a place to stay.”

Burns said Strickland lives in Bay County with a guardian.

Her parents are originally from Bay County but moved to Tennessee.

Saturday, Strickland was at Dave & Buster’s with both her parents and guardian.

“What led up to her walking away,” Burn said. “It’s due to the family having some discrepancies prior to her running away. She was last seen wearing a black hijab with a dark-colored shirt, black pants, and black and white sneakers. Jameela also has a scar on her right arm. She may be in possession of a small, dark-colored bag.”

Officials said she left the business walking in a northeasterly directly.

“We’ve gone back multiple times to these businesses to ask, do you have video footage? Burns said. “We have a very, very small amount of businesses, surprisingly, that have video covering that area with the assistance of other outside agencies and other resources. We’re still trying to track down whether she got into a vehicle or continued to walk on foot. “

Police said they’ve conducted preliminary searches in the wooded area surrounding Pier Park. But found nothing.

They emphasize that their number one priority is Strickland’s safety.

“If there is something where somebody is helping her due to a background or a history, like I said, we’re not out here to put people in jail,” Burns said. “We’re out to find Jameela. So every situation, every circumstance of this entire case, would be looked at depending on what the scenario is.”
